Windows 7
I used to use this app all the time back on XP but when I switched to vista, the calender would no longer "stick" to the desktop (pressing the show desktop button minimized the calendar as well as all the other windows). This was because the guys at microsoft essentially broke the method that every used to keep things like gadgets "stuck" to the desktop. I am starting to get the impression from the forum and changelogs that this might have been fixed. I am now using windows 7 (which is great, btw) and I am having the same problem as I did with vista (minimizing everything manually is the only way to get the calendar to show up "on the desktop"). This is in the requests portion because I don't know for sure if this was ever corrected in Vista. I do know that in windows 7 gadgets WILL stay "pinned" to the desktop for the new peek comand and for show desktop. This indicates that at least SOME functionality has been given returned since Vista. I am guessing that if we can "trick" 7 into thinking that OotD is a gadget or something, it will work perfectly.

Hi Andrew,
Unfortunately, this problem still exists. Microsoft has not provided a way to stick things on the desktop in Vista. In Windows 7, you can almost achieve the functionality with the way gadgets now work, however, I will have to rewrite the app for it to work as a gadget and I'm not even sure I can get the same functionality within a gadget.

Yeah... I thought so. It seems a little ridiculous for MS to allow ONLY gadgets that functionality. I mean, wouldn't it be EASIER for them to go back to the way they had it in XP?
If you do rewrite the app as a gadget, just know that I will create a shrine to you in my house. I mean, keeping the program alive in a new format would be so good for both the current users and also to future users who haven't seen the light yet. I understand that gadgets are kind of weak but for some reason *COUGH* apple *COUGH* they still seem to be included into new development trends.
It seems strange that the ability to pin simple programs to the desktop (but not on top of all windows) without having to write seperate gadgets would be even more sought after these days given more powerful computing and small programs like messengers and the like. Oh well...

Cyarron, I completely agree. I'll definitely investigate making a gadget.
