OotD doesn't show when pressing 'Show desktop'

On my new PC, OotD doesn't show when I use WIN+D or the 'Show Desktop' button. It flashes by for a moment and then disappears. The same happens when I press show and hide in the options, it just flashes on the screen for a moment and then is gone. However, when I minimize an application, I can see OotD. Please fix this, as this is really annoying.
I'm using Vista Home Premium w/o Aero.

This is a known issue with Vista and Windows 7. Microsoft no longer allows apps to be pinned to the desktop, so I can't fix it. You'll have to minimize your windows to see OotD, I know it's not the ideal solution, but it's all I have right now.

The german Calendar "Kalenderchen" uses a quite different method: It modifies the wallpaper so it looks like a part of the background. So it'S always visible on the desktop but cannot be used on the desktop directly.
I think this soultion would be better then the situation at this moment - so eventually you can use the idea?
P.s.: What'S about a gadget? They stay always on the desktop.
