Drag & Resize

Hi Mike,

I'm not a programmer so if this is a stupid request please don't be too hard on me.

How about the ability to drag and resize the window without having to go into the preferences screen?  And how about the ability to simply move the window anywhere on the screen by grabbing it like a standard minimized window?

Thank you,

Phoo Phan

Hey Phoo,

The problem is that to have a resizeable/movable window requires some type of "window handle" to grab on to.  I've experimented with this in the past, adding a minimal window handle, but the result is that it just looks ugly and detracts from the look I was trying to achieve.  I felt that you shouldn't be resizing/positioning it too often, so having it in the prefs was a fine solution.

How about allowing users to resize by dragging handles but only having them appear once you go into preferences to the resize dialog?

It's a solution that preserves the UI, recognizes that it's not something done often, but doesn't force the users to use an uncommon way of resizing windows.  In effect, you are going to preferences to enable a "moving and resizing mode" that ends when you click OK or maybe just by clicking on the desktop.

While in this special mode you could move the window by grabbing and dragging anywhere in the middle of the window and resize using the temporarily visible handles.

It could replace the current dialog or just be done in addition to it. You'd just add more instructions to the dialog letting them know about the new option.

I was hoping to see a drag/resize in the wishlist, and GeneralZod's solution sounds cool enough... I hope it's doable.

It's the one feature I kinda miss. I would use it quite a bit 'cause we use laptops and have a dual-screen when we're docked (which is where I prefer this to be), else we're just a laptop on the go.

Thanks for the app. It's killer!
